Geopolitix: rank countries by the numbers

Geopolitix is a free daily country-ranking game. Every day you play three rounds; in each one you drag five countries into the right order for a single criterion, from GDP, GDP per capita, population and land area to life expectancy, average temperature, annual rainfall and the Good Country Index.

You score on how many countries land in exactly the right spot, then on near-misses, then on speed, and share a colour-coded grid of your result. One puzzle per day, the same five-country line-ups for everyone.

How to play

  1. Each of the three daily rounds shows five countries and one criterion (GDP, population, area, life expectancy, temperature, rainfall or a Good Country Index category).
  2. Drag the countries into the order the criterion asks for, for example most to least populous, or best to worst Good Country.
  3. Lock in your ranking to reveal the real values: green means the exact right spot, orange means one position off, red means further away.
  4. You score first on exact placements, then on near-misses, then on your total time. Each round links to its data source.
  5. Come back tomorrow for three new country line-ups. Everyone gets the same puzzle each day, so scores are shareable.

What is Geopolitix?

How is my score calculated?

You score first on how many countries you place in the exact right spot, then on near-misses (one spot off), then on your total time. Green means the exact right place, orange means one position off, red means further away.

Where does the data come from?

Every criterion cites its source: the World Bank for GDP, population, life expectancy and rainfall; the World Bank Climate Change Knowledge Portal for temperature; Wikidata for land area; and the Good Country Index for its seven categories and overall ranking.
